South West Championships 2026 Another great weekend held in Torbay with the ever growing Taekwondo Wales Team. 19 competitors migrated to Goodrington Sands for the yearly sun and fun tournament weekend. The weather was not on our side for Saturday morning training on the beach, but this did not put a dampener on the team’s spirits. A wet run to start off, followed by drills in the quicksand to strengthen the legs and ending with special techniques, dodging, reaction and target practice. The team slowly migrated to the waters edge for patterns where it inevitably ended with everyone in the sea!! Training over!! Sunday was tournament day, with all the team stepping it up yet again. We had new members of the team having their first taste or competition and some returning competitors getting back on the mats. As with all tournaments, there are always new challenges for the team, facing taller competitors, draws after draws testing fitness, great sparers, and on numerous occasions today, facing your own team mates in finals. TKD Wales Elite did everyone and themselves proud this weekend.
