Twenty Years at Taekwon-do-Wales
Twenty years ago after becoming a 1st Degree Black Belt I decided to open a Taekwon-do School in Blackwood, Gwent South Wales we started off in a Community Centre in Fleur-de-Lis. Having no idea of what the future would bring. We open the doors to the public on the first week of September 2001 not knowing what to expect. If at all anyone would turn up. On the very first day 34 students turned up. From there we grew and grew at our peak we had 13 schools and over 600 students. Now we have survived a World Pandemic we have our own purpose built Taekwon-do School in Aberbargoed one mile away from Fleur-de-Lis plus three instructors with their own schools under Taekwon-do-Wales plus a number of after school clubs just waiting to re-open after this Covid Pandemic. We now have over 300 students currently training under our schools.
Twenty years of successful tournaments over these years we have won medals at every level of competition, Nationals and International, Some of our children and adults have been to many countries around the world.
To date in that Twenty Years in the South Wales Valleys through our doors over 2500 students and graded 250 up Black Belt and above. I and proud of what we have done in that twenty years.
If I can go on on for a next 10 to15 years I will be happy then let someone younger take over the reins.
